Where has my weekly food temperature task gone?

Written by Chomp | 4 September 2024

Wondering where your weekly meat and poultry task button has gone? Don't worry, it hasn't disappeared! It's just changed from a green button to a blue button.

If you have a blue button on your app, you may need to record a proving method. Proving is a way to show your verifier/auditor that when you cook something the same way every time, you always come out with the same safe food result.

Proving counts were previously added in the Management Dashboard but have moved into the Chomp app to make it easier and quicker for you.

Once you have increased the proving count to three on the task, the button will change to a green button which will appear weekly as a task.

Proving weekly tasks in Chomp

If you're not sure how to set up proving tasks or how to add proving records into Chomp, check out this tutorial.

Here's a list of menu items or cooking methods that can be proven:

  • Chicken, livers and processed meat
  • Cooling Hot Food
  • Reheating
  • Sous Vide
  • Hot Smoking Food
  • Acidified Food
  • Sushi Rice pH

Not sure what the proving method is?

We explain it here.

Should I reset or reprove my methods? And how do I do this?

Once you have proved your method, you don't need to do it again unless your method changes in any way. However, some kitchens like to review their proving methods at regular intervals by redoing them.

To reset your proving method:

  • In the Management Dashboard, go to Your Plan Setup
  • Click on Cooking Poultry/Meat
  • Click Weekly Batch Test
  • Click the Reset button on the item that you would like to reprove
